A VERY SPECIAL PLACE OF HONOR HAS BEEN CREATED TO FOREVER MEMORIALIZE
THE LIVES OF LOVED ONES WHILE HELPING TO ENSURE THAT FUTURE GENERATIONS
OF NATIVE AMERICAN CHILDREN WILL BE CARED FOR THROUGH ST. LABRE
INDIAN SCHOOL.
|
|
There is something about this place that captures the heart and soul of every
person who comes to St. Labre. Here, in the Tongue River Valley, a quiet miracle seems
to happen every passing day as children of the Northern Cheyenne and Crow reservations
find hope for their future. Since 1884, St. Labre Indian School has been the source of
that hope - that miracle - which happens only through the generosity and compassion
of caring individuals who support this vital, life-saving mission.
|
|
This is a place where the laughter of happy,
healthy children will forever memorialize your loved ones and your gift of hope.
|
The Memorial Plaza at St. Labre, located near
the very heart of this mission complex, is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful,
modern adaptations of important Native American symbolism. Looking overhead, the Plaza is
shaped like the "Morning Star," named after the rising sun that gives light - and life - to
all of us. The Cheyenne and other Plains Indian people today interpret the Morning Star
to symbolize God. For just as the sun brings life and warmth to the earth, so too does our
Creator provide spiritual nourishment and comfort.
|
At the very center of the Memorial Plaza is an ever-flowing fountain, built from Montana
dolomite stone. It represents the blessings given to each of us and also bears great significance
to both Native American and Christian cultures. As the four corners of the main plaza
project towards the four points of direction, The Plaza stands like a crossroad of life itself.
It is here that names of loved-ones may be etched for eternity - continually perpetuating
the Sacred Circle of Life by providing for the needs of deserving Native American children.
The St. Labre Memorial Plaza is a most fitting tribute to any person whose very essence
in life deserves timeless and significant recognition.

A gift That Respectfully HONORS LIFE While HELPING
OTHERS LIVE
|
|
Just as Christians believe that the essence of our lives has no real end or beginning, Native
Americans believe strongly in a sacred "circle of life." That circle is represented by the circular
boundary of the St. Labre Memorial Plaza. Within that circle are the handprints of children cared
for by St. Labre - the very children whose lives are
profoundly affected through the miracle of hope
that is St. Labre Indian School.
|
Memorial gifts represented on the Plaza are contributions that provide for the daily needs of
Native American children served by St. Labre. This includes providing a quality education at one
of St. Labre's three campuses, food, clothing, shelter, counseling, and other assistance.
|
St. Labre Indian School relies entirely on the contributions of those who wish to bring hope
into the lives of children whose future might otherwise not be as bright. For many of them, St. Labre
is their last in a struggle to better themselves and escape a life of poverty and despair.
|
The St. Labre Memorial Plaza has been designed and built to serve as an everlasting tribute for anyone
wishing to honor loved ones or friends, both living and deceased. Memorials begin at $250 for any one individual
